stuck on repeat... unforgiven. i take to the street... i'm relelentless. what you say about what you know, it don't mean a thing. what you know about what you say, it don't mean a thing. all the noise dies down, and the morning comes around the only sound i believe in? baby, it's you. stuck on defeat... what's the reason? playin' for keeps... how don't you see it? all the games that you play? throw them away. all the chase is a waste, it's unbecoming. but all the noise dies down, and the morning comes around the only sound i believe in? baby it's you. all the noise dies down, and the morning comes around the only sound with a feeling? baby it's you. am i stuck on repeat? i never, i never know... when i press play, what's coming my way? i never, i never know... all the ways... all the waste... all the ways... all the waste... all the noise... all the ways... all the waste... all the noise... all the ways... all the waste... all the noise... stuck on repeat... unforgiven.

i have no opened my front door in four days, it could be more... i tried to lock it out, instead i locked it in. erasers spread across my floor, bottles empty and pages torn. an antidote in vapor form... oh... please cover up the sun. tie me up and tuck me away. let me out on a rainy day. please cover up the sun. pace around turn out the lights nothing seems to neutralize the aching silence... it is amplified. i thumb the pages of every book i'm tired of puzzle pieces now look, i'm all i've got and that has got to be enough. please cover up the sun. tie me up and tuck me away. let me out on a rainy day. please cover up the sun.

What To Say 03:39
did you say everything that you wanted to say? did you get it out beyond a reasonable doubt? did you blame all the pain on everything else? cause time is running out... running out. i wont let you let me down. i wont let you, let you drown. what to say when you act this way? what to make of the way that you've been? i know you are much better than all of this around you... what to say? what to say? did you read every word of the letter i left? did you find it by the bed? or did you write your own instead? standing with my things at the top of the stairs looking down at the steps, but they never know best. i wont let you let me down. i wont let you, let you drown. what to say when you act this way? what to make of the way that you've been? i know you are much better than all of this around you... what to say? i know you are much better than all of this around you... what to say?

Waikiki 03:30
sittin' out on waikiki everything i need's right in front of me i know soon i must go home... got my girl, got a new tattoo a good friend back, and a drink or two. i know soon i've gotta go home... but i know i will return. the ground below, the ocean beneath... everything i see becomes part of me. i know soon i've gotta go home... got my girl, got a new tattoo. a good friend back, and a drink or thirty-two. i know soon i've gotta go home... but i know i must return. i know i've gotta go home... i know i will return for now... i've gotta go home...

about

and now, to borrow from kerouac...

“to make the sea your own, to watch over it, to brood your very soul into it, to accept it and love it as though only it mattered and existed.” (from the sea is my brother)

january brings us to the second ep in the series, “sea”. the title stems from a combination of the abbreviation for seattle (sea), a love of the ocean, of rain, of water, and it’s ability to wash us clean, (physically and emotionally.) it also echo’s the ocean’s ability to have such stark contrasts, calm, patient, rhythmic, all the way to violent, chaotic, crashing...

these songs were all written pretty far from each other, not just geographically - seattle, hawaii, santa barbara, but also far from each other in time. regardless of how far apart, all written by the shore, and i can’t help but wonder if in some ways they were carried by the same wave.

working backwards a bit, i’m kicking it off with an extracted video of “waikiki”. this is the actual recording that appears the ep, pulled from the full documentary directed by am bushe “the journey” that follows the making of the record.

enjoy, hope you make it your own, watch over it, brood your very soul into it, and always...
